Lead Patient Financial Services Representative *Telecommute* in California


The Lead Patient Financial Services Representative demonstrates an understanding of revenue cycle functions in order to coordinate and organize the functions of the designated team. Responsible for the daily monitoring of a team, including work assignments, meeting timelines and goals, ensuring quality and staffing. The Lead serves as the primary contact for the team members when problems arise and helps in the training of new processes/systems. This position requires an in-depth knowledge of processes, systems, insurance and medical terminology. Excellent communication, problem-solving, prioritization and interpersonal skills are a must. The Lead is a working leadership role and therefore must competently perform specified functions, while also effectively managing the daily operations. May assist the manager by identify training needs, opportunities for improvement, performance input and coaching/counseling staff. This position works with other leads, management, ministry employees, insurance companies, vendors and community partners to foster positive relationships in order to accomplish business tasks.


  • Performs all job functions of the team assigned to coordinate/lead.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of revenue cycle and acts as a resource for team members.

  • Reviews daily work assignments to ensure workload is managed effectively.

  • Demonstrates effective problem solving skills and/or alerts management of any problems irresolvable at the coordinator level.

  • Proactively monitors the team schedule to ensure adequate coverage and makes adjustments as needed to ensure workload is managed.

  • Communicates goals effectively to the team and creates a positive atmosphere to encourage attainment of goals.

  • Performs audits to ensure quality of work produced by team meets/exceeds department standards. Coaches team members and inform management of appropriate recognition/counseling opportunities.

  • Demonstrates professionalism at all times in appearance, presentation and interactions.

  • Helps to educate team on new processes/systems.

  • Meets productivity requirements to ensure excellent service is provided to customers.

  • Organizes work/resources to accomplish objectives and meet deadlines.

  • Proactively communicates issues or potential issues involving customer service and process improvement opportunities to management.

  • Maintains excellent public relations with patients, families, physicians, visitors, customers and hospital staff.

  • Works collaboratively with others for concise and timely flow of information.

  • Develops and/or assists in formal education programs. Participates in all educational activities, and demonstrates personal responsibility for job performance.

Required qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in Business or equivalent educ/experience

  • 5 years Health care business office experience or related field. Extensive customer service experience and knowledge of healthcare terms with an emphasis on revenue cycle

  • 2 yearsTenure with Revenue Cycle Services

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in managing people

  • CPC preferred
