Epic EMFI Engineer, Service Engineer 2 - 100% Remote within USA

We are seeking an Enterprise Master File Infrastructure (EMFI) Engineer to implement and manage EMFI, Data Courier, and related infrastructure for Providence’s Epic application. This level EMFI Engineer applies understanding of Epic’s static data structure, synchronization tools, and project management to data migration and standardization challenges. Contributes to recommendations for enterprise use of IntraConnect EMFI and Data Courier software products, policy and process improvements, and methods to increase technical productivity.

This EMFI Engineer is responsible for making mission-critical decisions involving coordination, design, and development of strategies for data synchronization across instances of Epic software. The engineer is responsible for setting up EMFI and Data Courier interfaces and managing traffic into and out of community lead, EMFI, end-user deployment, and standalone environments. In addition, responsible for implementing enterprise tracking decisions, auditing Data Courier use by other teams, and troubleshooting EMFI and Data Courier errors. The engineer generally works independently under deadlines and is subject to heavy workloads. Competent to work on complex software systems analysis and programming assignments and have full authorization and access to the core functionality of the Epic’s applications and databases.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Participate in 24 x 7 on call rotation as needed.

  • Manage the core EMFI and Data Courier setup and configuration (ECI, EGC, and interfaces).

  • Review the EMFI interface error logs and triage error investigations to the application teams when appropriate.

  • Monitor data and database integrity as it pertains to the ability to sync static data.

  • Assist Epic support teams and vendor in determining and requesting optimal EMFI and DC INI and item configuration. Implement EMFI and DC INI and items changes.

  • Implement new EMFI and Data Courier systems/programs/interfaces and modify existing EMFI and Data Courier systems/programs/interfaces to satisfy new requirements.

  • Determine and implement solutions for problem resolution.

  • Provide the EMFI perspective for Epic enterprise-level events and projects, like upgrades and downtimes.

  • Train analysts and other Epic users on usingEpic Data Courier.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or equivalent educ/experience.

  • 2 years of related experience; 2-5 years preferred.

  • Experience in automation, specifically related to deployment, recovery, or other manual processes.

  • Experience with n-tier solutions.

  • Experience with resilience modeling (failure mode analysis) and ability to simulate service outages for point solutions (automated) and platforms (manually).

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Two (2) years of experience with EMFI and/or Data Courier.

  • Epic Certification in Data Courier *expectation to be certified within 1 year

  • Epic Certification in IntraConnect EMFI *expectation to be certified within 1 year

  • Epic Certification in Bridges/Interface Administration *expectation to be certified within 1 year

  • Experience with UNIX command line.

  • Experience with programming/scripting in at least one computer language.
